Changes we’d like to see
- Increase the penalties from civil to criminal penalties. $250 dollar fine is simply a slap on the wrist.
- Clarify that it is the actual temperature that matters, not the outdoor temperature.

HB2432, sponsored by @JenLongdon and @DrAmishShah aims to reduce suffering of dogs in Arizona. Great start, but why are their only civil penalties in the bill and no criminal penalties ? #animalcruelty is a crime. #AZlaws

HB2432 protects dogs from heat in Arizona. The bill states:
— Progress Through Photography AZ (@PTPArizona) February 1, 2022
(a) THE ACTUAL OR EFFECTIVE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 32 DEGREES F OR ABOVE ONE 100 DEGREES F.
Stuck in a car, a dog will die on a 90F degree day. Who cares about OUTDOOR temperature. @DrAmishShah @JenLongdon
